MATH Final Table

I didn't really enjoy the turbo format of the MATH last night. We got into pushfest mode very early and it just became a luckout and suckout tourney. I managed to make it to the final table by playing very tight and laying down hands in questionable spots. I managed to double up on LJ twice when I had no choice but to call her raises. She eventually took me out when she raised with KK and I had to call with QQ.

JJamyhawk took it down. Congrats and well deserved, JJamyhawk.

I wanted to quickly speak about one play at the final table that still baffles me. With SnailTrax holding less than the a full BB he moved all in from MP. I was in the SB and really didn't want to complete, but figured we would check it down and knock him out. Julkeus was in the BB and seemed to be OK checking it down but then bet 5K into a dry pot on the river holding 62o.

Say what?

Snail went on to take second place. My hand wouldn't have knocked him out, but that has got to be the dumbest move I have seen in a very very long time. The only thing that could happen there was that I would call and take down an extra 5K. I really don't get it.

At least it was entertaining.

As you may have seen in my post yesterday (and thanks for commenting), I wouldn't have made the final table if a player hadn't bet a dry side pot and knocked out the 3rd player who would have won the hand.

The player was betting an OESD, while I had a low pair, and my pair held up. The rest is history...

By the way, I commented on your comment on Hoy's blog.

And for the record, I dug the turbo...I don't think it should always be turbo...but once in a while is a nice chane...
